“Maldita Vol. 1” is Ine Agresta’s first work of prose poetry, where she brings to light the most intimate moments of her days between 2006 and 2007 in a desperate attempt to empty her mind, hoping that her words might stir and soothe the souls of others, just as they once did her own.
It is a work laden with dreamlike symbolism, entwined with simple, everyday images. Written in a distinctly Uruguayan Spanish, each of the 73 poems is a fleeting vignette that together form a story with neither beginning nor end. Every poem is a fragment of a heart in search, and of a mind that refuses to be silent. Each is an experiment in cleansing cursed thoughts.
